1440p should be perfectly fine on a 4k 27", you're unlikely to notice real blurriness unless you're really really close to the monitor and resolution goes down (the closer you are to the screen, the more you notice single pixels). My thoughts: The backlight bleed issues in the Amazon reviews seem to be mostly for the 4k monitor that Acer also sells. For some reason the reviews are lumped together on the product page but obviously this monitor uses a totally different panel. The display I got looks great.
